The following dates are important in April

1 April

The first apparition to Pasquino di Martino da Vignale in the Italian town of Civitella di Romagna. Mary instructs him to go to the owner of the land where the apparition takes place and ask if a portion of it can be ceded to build a church (1556).

4 April

In the niche of the Grotto at Lourdes, the statue of Mary is placed (1864). It was made by the French sculptor Joseph-Hugues Fabisch (1812-1886). The statue is 1.83m high and is made of Italian Carrara marble.

7 April

For the 17th time, Maria appears to Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes (1858). Bernadette is holding a burning candle in her left hand again, and with her right hand, she shields the flame from the wind. This flame touches her fingers, but she feels nothing of the heat. A doctor can find no burns.

10 April

The church of Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours (Our Lady of Good Help), near Péruwelz in Belgium on the border with France, was elevated to the status of a basilica in 1910 by a decree from Pius X, Pope during the period 1903-1914.

11 April

Maria reappears in the Italian town of Schio and this time for the first time on the hill known as “Monte di Cristo”. She is barefoot and wearing a long, white robe (1986).

12 April

-1947- Apparition of Mary at Tre Fontane in Rome to Bruno Cornacchiola (1931-2001). Through this, Mary dissuades him from his plan to murder Pope Pius XII.

15 April

Second apparition to Pasquino di Martino da Vignale in Civitella di Romagna, Italy. Mary tells him that it is unnecessary to return if he does not have an answer for her command to go to the landowner to build a church on the plot of land (1556)

17 April

In 1966, a second series of apparitions began in Montichiari, Italy, to Pierina Gilli (1911-1991), following those after 1947. The present spring is indicated by the source as having healing properties. In Montichiari, Mary is present as the “Rosa Mystica”.

20 April

During the apparition of Mary to Pierina Gilli in Montichiari, Italy (1976), She says: “Come, my children! Here I have opened the Fountain of Forgiveness and Love.”

20 April

The crowning of the miraculous image of Our Lady of Dadizele in 1902 (Belgium). This is performed by Gustavus Josephus Waffelaert (1847-1931), Bishop of Bruges (1895-1931).

22 April

Third apparition to Pasquino di Martino da Vignale in Civitella di Romagna, Italy. He tells Mary that the landowner wants to cede a part of the land to have a church built there for Her (1556).

24 April

-1838- The Archconfraternity of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of Mary, of Our Lady of Victories in Paris, is elevated to World Archconfraternity of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

25 April

Fourth apparition to Pasquino di Martino da Vignale in Civitella di Romagna, Italy. Mary spreads her arms and tells him to invite the population to fast and pray to her Son on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (1556).

26 April

Feast of Mary, Mother of Good Counsel. Celebrated as early as the 17th century in Genazzano, Italy. The feast day was introduced for the entire Catholic Church in the late 19th century. The image in Genazzano originally comes from Jerusalem, arriving in Shkodra, Albania in 1260 and subsequently arriving in Genazzano on 25 April 1467.

27 April

Feast of Our Lady of Montserrat (Spain) with the entrance of Mary on a silver throne.

29 April

Fifth and final apparition to Pasquino di Martino da Vignale in Civitella di Romagna, Italy. Mary does not speak but blesses those present (1556).

Paul VI, Pope from 1963 to 1978, published the encyclical “Mense Maio” (Latin for “The Month of May”) in 1975. The papal letter calls for prayer for peace during the month of May. From this day in 1975, the month of May has been designated as the Marian month in the Catholic Church.

30th April

In Neuvizy, France, a statuette of Mary is discovered by 8 children (1752). The statuette gleams with a halo of light in a thicket and is placed in the church with the title “Our Lady of Good Hope”. Miraculous events are attributed to the statuette.
