Solemn consecration of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Lourdes (1876)
3 July
Coronation of the great statue of the Immaculate Conception at Lourdes in 1876 by Pier Francesco Meglia (1810-1883), bishop from 1864 to 1883, after authorisation by Pius IX, pope from 1846 to 1878.
4 July
4 July 1866 - Bernadette Soubirous leaves Lourdes and travels to the convent in Nevers. In 1858, she met Mary 18 times.
5 July
In a felled oak tree, a statuette of Mary is found, and this forms the basis for the sanctuary of Foy Notre-Dame in Wallonia (1609).
8 July
8 July 1951. In the Italian pilgrimage site of Ghisallo, a silver memento with a photograph is placed of the fatally injured cyclist Serse Coppi (1923-1951), brother of cycling champion Fausto Coppi (1919-1960), who is present at the time.
9 July
The miraculous image of Our Lady of Victories in Paris is presented with a new crown by Pius IX, Pope from 1846 to 1878, born Giovanni Maria Mastai-Ferretti (1792-1878). This is in thanks for the liberation of Rome by French soldiers in 1849. The crown was offered in 1853. It is the first image to be crowned on the Pope's initiative. 8th July 1951.
13 July
Third apparition of Mary at Fatima (1917). Our Lady says: “If people do not cease offending God, God will punish the world for the crimes committed against Him by means of war, famine and the persecution of the Church.” Mary speaks of “the dogma of faith” and emphasises that the Catholic faith in perpetuating existence is threatened. Mary opens her hands and the three children see a sea of flames, in which are devils and souls, which resemble people and are charred black. The children hear screams, also moans of pain and despair. They see hell.
16 July
Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. This is the feast of the scapular.
29 July
Bernadette Soubirous (1844-1879) begins her novitiate at the convent in Nevers (1866). In 1858, she encountered Mary 18 times.
30 July
The image of Our Lady of Hanswijk (Mechelen) was crowned in 1876 by Victor Augustin Isidore Dechamps (1810-1883), Archbishop of Mechelen (1867-1883).
