Queen

Maria is repeatedly honoured with the title of “Queen”. She is called, among other things, “Queen of the Angels”, “Queen of All Saints”, “Queen of the Rosary” and “Queen of Peace”.

Maria is not only queen through her Divine Motherhood, but also through her share in her Son's redemption.

The feast of Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, was introduced in 1954 by Pius XII, who was Pope from 1939 to 1958. Born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli (1876-1958), he introduced the feast at the conclusion of the international Marian Year. This was done to mark the 100th anniversary of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Mary is then considered Queen of Heaven and Earth (Regina Caeli).

The feast of Mary, Queen is set for 22 August and belongs to the octave of the feast of the Assumption of Mary on 15 August. 22 August is then the 8th and final day of this feast period. The 22nd of August is then the octave day.

Has anyone ever meant as much as “Queen” Mary?
