Flemish Essen (B2910) is located in the north of the province of Antwerp. About 150 metres from the Dutch border, at Nieuwstraat 50, behind the church, stands a beautiful Lourdes/Marian grotto.
The parish church stands before the Lourdes grotto. This place of worship is dedicated to Our Lady of Birth. The chapel in the church is located to the left of the entrance hall. In this chapel, there is a statue of Mary and Jesus. Mary is dressed in a blue cloak. She is holding Jesus, who is spreading his arms.
