The history of the chapel's establishment began in 1909. There was a festive carnival occasion, as a “rustic wedding” was being celebrated. This took place in a vacant butter factory that had been temporarily converted into a chapel. Following this celebratory event, local residents requested that a chapel be built. The factory was converted into a chapel and was consecrated in 1912. It was then known as a field chapel because the building was situated in an agricultural area surrounded by farms. Later, the surrounding area became fully built up.

The current chapel was consecrated in 1927, after the factory converted into a chapel was demolished in 1926. The building features a facade tower and a semi-circular apse. In 2012, the Moeselkapel was thoroughly restored.

In the porch by the entrance door, ex-votos have been affixed to both sides. They are numerous tiles bearing words of thanks and requests.

The Moeselkapel is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, and within the consecrated space, there is a Lourdes grotto. At the centre of the altar stands a large statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. Our Lady is positioned in a niche, surrounded by lights. The effigy of Bernadette Soubirous is on a small console in front of the grotto. Above the grotto, against the ceiling, is the text “Comforter of the afflicted, pray for us”.”
