Esch-sur-Alzette – Lourdes Grotto

On the outskirts of the town of Esch-sur-Alzette, in “Esch Neudorf”, stands a Lourdes grotto. The grotto is beautifully maintained with flower-filled tubs to make the white statue of Mary and the equally white effigy of Bernadette stand out.

Next to the grotto stands a large clock. The scene at the Lourdes grotto is recognisable with the standing Mary in the niche of the Lourdes grotto and before Her, Bernadette kneeling.

To get to the Lourdes Grotto, follow the road from, for example, the Hôtel de Ville, in the centre of Esch-sur-Alzette. Then go to Rue Quartier and take Rue Albert Goedert onto the N31. After a few hundred metres, turn left to enter the Sentier de Kayl. At the end of this road, on the right, is a school building called “Esch Neudorf”. There is space here to park the car. To the right of this building, follow a path which bends left after about 100 metres. It is then approximately 30 metres to the Lourdes Grotto.
