Padre Pio, also known as Pio of Pietrelcina, born Francesco Forgione (1887-1968), is a very popular folk saint, particularly in Italy. He says of the rosary: “When we take the rosary in our hands, it is as if we are grasping the hand of the Virgin Mary.”
