Bruges – Our Lady of the Potterie

The historic, former hospital complex Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Potterie is located near the water of the Potterierei. The former hospital is now a museum. Since 1276, the organisation of the almshouse of the Holy Spirit, or Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Potterie, has existed, where the Augustinian sisters care for the elderly.

The old infirmary and the church display a large collection of triptychs, stained-glass windows, tapestries, and silver cabinets.

In the Baroque church, which is still in use for services, is the continuation of the museum. The Augustinian Sisters have been caring for the church for many years.

In the church is also a painting of “Our Lady of Regula”. It is an image of the sculpture from the main altar of the “Sanctuaria Nuestra Señora de Regla” in Chipiona, Spain. The miraculous image has both a black face and dark hands.
