Grieving people are marked by life, as they have known great sorrow. This sorrow stems, among other things, from the loss of loved ones, illness within relatives, friends, or themselves, exposure to danger, exclusion, or suffering abuse. The grieving experience pain from deep-seated causes that are entrenched within their lives. They have had to let go of opportunities, or these have been taken away from them. This is like a shadow that hangs over them.
Praying to Mary ensures the sharing of sorrow with Her. Mary listens to those who pray to Her, offers support, and ensures that people feel safe with Her.
Maria heals the sorrowful by helping them mentally; she performs spiritual miracles. Through this, the sorrowful experience moral improvement. Maria grants the sorrowful comfort. Our Lady can do this because she too has known much sorrow.
Believing in Mary offers comfort. Mary feels very close and believers are close to Mary.
By expressing sorrow to Mary, the sorrowful can move on. This is due to the comfort that Mary offers.
