The Sacramentsprocessie in Kwadendamme, Zeeland, has an official tripartite structure of praise, procession, and eucharistic celebration.
In St Boniface Church at Johan Frisostraat 5, the adoration begins with singing, prayer, and blessing with the Blessed Sacrament. Afterwards, the procession moves to the field chapel of Mary on the Vreelandsedijk.
During the Sacrament Procession, the Blessed Sacrament, a consecrated host in a monstrance, is solemnly carried through the streets. This takes place under a canopy and many faithful join in the procession. Two statues of Mary also go along in the procession, namely the effigy of Mary of Vreeland and a large basket image of Our Lady of Kwadendamme.
After the procession, the Eucharist service will take place in the presbytery garden behind the church. The informal closing involves a pleasant get-together with drinks and snacks. The Sacrament procession in Kwadendamme is always an excellent gathering for those interested in combining reflection and relaxation.
