Gilze – Lourdes Grotto

The Lourdes Grotto in Gilze, Brabant, was built in 1927. The grotto was consecrated by Father Adrianus Adam Hubertus van den Noort (1865-1942). In 2010, Huub Quirijnen (1975) refurbished the statues of Mary and Bernadette.

Benches have been placed in front of the Lourdes Grotto. Between bushes, the kneeling Bernadette Soubirous is depicted in a very devout manner.

In the niche of the cave, candles burn and statues stand. Visitors can sit on the bench in front of the cave. It is an excellent place for them to linger, pray, and reflect.

The statue of Mary stands at approximately 1.5 metres high. The Lourdes grotto gives a well-maintained impression and is visited frequently.
