Virgin of Virgins

Mary has many titles, and one of them is the Virgin of Virgins. This appellation is also included in the Litany of Loreto.

A virgin is pure, chaste, and completely free from sin. Someone is a virgin if they have not had sexual intercourse. Mary is the Mother of Jesus, who gave birth to Him as a virgin. The perpetual virginity of Mary was established in the Catholic Church in the year 648 during the Sixth Council of Toledo.

Virgin of Virgins is a social status that grants Mary esteem among believers. In the church, She is venerated for her virginity. This virginity is a core tenet in the theology of Christians. Mary is the Virgin of Virgins because, through the Holy Spirit, She became pregnant without sexual intercourse. Mary subsequently remained a virgin her entire life. The title Virgin of Virgins is an acknowledgement of her extremely unique role as the Mother of Jesus and her purity, holiness, and complete obedience to God.

The virgin birth of Jesus is not universally accepted. The idea that Mary conceived without sexual contact has been debated for centuries. In the Catholic and Orthodox churches, the virgin birth is a dogma, and therefore a mandatory acceptance for believers. In the Protestant church, Mary's virginity is not universally accepted. Muslims follow the Quran, which states Mary's virginity at the birth of her Son. In Surah 19, Maryam verse 20, it states: “She said: ”How can I have a son, when no mortal has touched me, nor am I an unchaste woman.'"

From the above, the conclusion follows: the Virgin of Virgins is an inimitable ideal, as only Mary benefits from this.

In painting, the theme “Virgin among Virgins” (“Virgo inter Virgines”) is popular. Mary is then depicted several times with her Child and sometimes with another virgin, who is holy.

Science primarily views the virgin birth as symbolically important. This implies that it is considered unbelievable.
