1 January
Holy Mary, the Mother of God. Established in 1974, following the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965).
2 January
Celebration of the arrival of “Our Lady of the Pillar” in the Spanish city of Zaragoza.
3 January
Final day of the apparitions in Beauraing (1933). Mary entrusts a secret to the three youngest children. She promises them: “I shall convert sinners!” Mary renames herself: “I am the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven.” She asks the children: “Do you love my Son? Do you love Me? What do you sacrifice for Me then? Farewell!”
4 January
The first time the rosary was prayed in the Garden of the Apparitions at Beauraing (1933). Since then, the rosary has been prayed daily at the shrine.
5 January
5 January 2011: Consecration of the new altar in the basilica of the pilgrimage site Douvres-la-Délivrande in Normandy, France.
7 January (1844)
Birth of Bernadette Soubirous. She experiences 18 apparitions of Mary in 1858 in Lourdes.
9 January
9 January 1844: baptism of Bernadette Soubirous in the parish church of Lourdes. She has 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes in 1858.
15 January
The first appearance of Mary to 11-year-old Mariette Beco in Banneux, Belgium. Around 7:00 PM, Mariette suddenly sees a young, beautiful Lady standing in the light. The Apparition invites the girl to come closer (1933). Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Banneux.
16th January
The last apparition of Our Lady to Jacinta Marto, who is in hospital. Mary says that she will soon come to fetch the youngest seer of Fatima. Our Lady then takes away her pain. Mary tells Jacinta about wars and discord in the world. Four days later, Jacinta dies (1920).
17 January
Feast of Our Lady of Hope.
18 January
Second apparition of Mary in Banneux (1933). Around 7 p.m., Mary visits Mariette Beco, who is kneeling by a small spring. Mary says to her: “Put your hands in the water. This spring is reserved for me.”
19 January
Third apparition in Banneux at 7pm. Mariette Beco asks: “Who are you, Beautiful Lady?” Mary says to her: “I am the Virgin of the Poor. This spring is for all peoples. For the sick. I will pray for you. Goodbye.” (1933).
