Observatory for Marian Apparitions

The Vatican in Rome has established an institute to review and study reported Marian apparitions. This institution will scientifically investigate reports of apparitions, stigmata, weeping statues, and mystical phenomena involving Mary to ascertain their authenticity. The phenomena of Mary will be analysed and interpreted.

The institution has officially been named the “observatory for apparitions and mystical phenomena related to the figure of the Virgin Mary”.

Experts are affiliated with the new organisation, conducting scientific research and coordinating it globally. The institute has been officially established with a steering committee and a scientific committee. The organisation engages national and international committees to investigate and evaluate apparitions and mystical phenomena concerning Mary. The Pontifical Marian Academy is responsible for coordination between the scientists and church authorities.
