Mary-

Easter

Especially around Easter, I reflect on what happened around 2000 years ago. However, who still experiences days like Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter?

The world is rushing by at a rapid pace. I'm reading and hearing about things like vaccinations, infections, playing with political power, and enjoying the Easter meal at home. There's attention for Easter eggs in supermarkets and at chocolatiers. Easter decorations are available in some shops looking to sell products. I've even heard of a few individuals who want to follow an Easter service via livestream.

It appears few people are engaging with the deeper meaning of Easter, but many have extra free time because of it. I strongly get the impression that for many, Easter has devolved into a hedonistic event, where consumption and expressing other needs take precedence over self-interest. Materialism, the desire for immediate gratification, complaining about restrictions during the pandemic, and self-centredness are far removed from the meaning of Easter. Who, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ and with the help of Mary, makes connections between people?
