In Simpelveld, South Limburg, there is a beautiful Mary chapel on the corner of Rodeput, namely the Chapel of Our Lady Star of the Sea. The well-maintained and very well-kept chapel is situated in a spacious green area.

Above the natural stone altar is a beautiful image of Mary, the Star of the Sea. Next to it, the prayer of the Star of the Sea can be read. In the Marian chapel, four stained-glass windows have been installed. The four chosen themes are: the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity of Jesus, and the Coronation of Mary. The windows are set in cement arches and were made by Harrie Pieters (1916-1985) from Maastricht. The windows bear the year 1955. A wrought-iron cross has been placed on the rear facade.

The chapel was built in 1951 and is also accessible for wheelchair users.

The chapel is an expression of thanks to Mary for being spared the ravages of the Second World War. The chapel was proposed by Guillaume Lemmens (1884-1960). This Limburg bishop of Roermond consecrated the chapel in July 1951. Until 1987, the chapel was managed and maintained by the local community. Subsequently, the chapel was placed under a foundation and also renovated.
