Mary-
Room

Thank you

I give thanks every day because I realise that nothing is to be taken for granted. I speak words of gratitude to Mary, because I am convinced that She co-directs the day. I also thank friends, because they mean a great deal in my life too.

A human is dependent, and I am acutely aware of that. Someone often appears very independent, but that is merely an illusion. After all, humans are not made to be able to do everything alone. Therefore, it is crystal clear that to succeed in the day, help from others is needed. The willingness of others to help is then necessary to experience the day as worthwhile. Showing gratitude to others, therefore, is part of the day. By giving thanks, one's own shortcomings become clear, which are remedied by others.

My thanks to others go out in words, a small bunch of flowers or a candle. I thank Mary with words and more often this happens in a prayer. With this, a candle always burns by her image.

I see gratitude as a privilege, because I recognise my own shortcomings and need others to fill in the gaps. This willingness to do so is part of gratitude, because if someone wants to, it can happen. I believe expressing sincere gratitude is a daily affair.
